Réaliser un album c’est matérialiser le rêve de l’artiste que l’on rencontre. Entrer dans son intimité pour l’aider à forger son travail et enfin le réaliser.
Mon studio est un laboratoire dans lequel je prends le temps d’écouter, de faire, de défaire, de refaire, d’enregistrer, de mixer pour que la transformation opère.
Voici trois artistes avec lesquels j’ai partagé un bout de vie.

The backstage is where everyone mingles and there is the rumbling of soft chaos… where you can hear the odd sounds of voices warming up and quick whispers. It’s where the great promise of release and serenity of exchange with the audience is held… where there is both clock time and the taste of eternity… where you can almost hear the knot in the heart.
It’s in the knot, in the backstage heart that these wild paradoxes and strains, speeding emotions, hopes, desires and thoughts cross – this wealth of dreams made of « anything ». Almost everything is allowed in the backstage.
As I nose-dive into the small knot in the heart, its love-tension widens to hold every visitor – to include any single voice and style of breath, every color and myth, every religion.

Fanta Mara est une artiste Guinéenne vivant à Paris . Choriste sur de nombreux albums elle a décidé de produire elle même son album et m’a contacté en 2005 pour cela. Il m’a fallu beaucoup de temps pour comprendre la musique mandingue et c’est avec l’aide de son mari que nous avons délicatement arrangé et enregistré tous les morceaux. Un par un les artistes sont venus enregistrer dans mon petit appartement et avec beaucoup de patience nous en sommes arrivés à cet album.

J’ai rencontré Kante Manfila pour réaliser les arrangements de son album « Ni Kanu » en 1995. Lorsque j’ai pu monter mon propre studio à la maison, en 2003, je lui ai proposé de produire un album avec lui ; il en était ravi. Pendant deux ans des artistes ont défilé à la maison pour enregistrer cet album. Thierry Cisotto rejoindra l’équipe pour les enregistrements de voix et les prémixs.
Il est partit avec les bandes prémixées sous le bras pour le montrer en Afrique et en a finalement fait une sortie « avec dédicace ». A cette époque là, il a arrangé entre autres l’album de Salif Keita « Mofu ». Nous nous sommes revus peu avant son décès, il désirait faire une sortie française de cet album qui reste pour le moment dans les tiroirs… Histoire à suivre donc !
